Li Bei Wen and the Nomore Formula

Quick Answer

Li Bei Wen is a wanted researcher developing a non-addictive painkiller. Keep his research storyline open by allowing him to leave, then prepare Chemical Supplies (Common) or Chemical Supplies (Restricted) for his return.

Li Bei Wen is a wanted researcher developing a non-addictive painkiller. Keep his research storyline open by allowing him to leave, then prepare Chemical Supplies (Common) or Chemical Supplies (Restricted) for his return. His final visit brings the Nomore formula and two high-purity Nomore Injectors. Reporting him instead pays a 400-Credit bounty and ends this storyline.

The important decision is therefore larger than whether to accept an ordinary trade. Helping him preserves access to a research reward; reporting him exchanges that route for the immediate bounty. Decide which outcome you want before using the alarm. The formula does not arrive simply because you have met him once, and giving him supplies does not produce an immediate cash payment.

Recognize the wanted researcher before making a decision

Li Bei Wen belongs to the Lower Levels faction. His visit combines a wanted-customer decision with a personal research request. That combination makes it easy to interrupt the longer quest while treating the encounter as a routine opportunity to collect Security money.

His earliest visit is day 14 in a normal introduction, or day 5 when using Skip Intro. These are earliest arrival points, not a reason to discard a run because a different visitor appears at your counter first. More useful than memorizing the calendar is recognizing the researcher and remembering that reporting him closes the branch you may be trying to follow.

On the first visit, he has eight Nomore Injector samples associated with funding his work. Treat those samples separately from the later formula reward. Having an injector in your inventory is not the same as having learned its manufacturing recipe, and selling or storing a sample does not replace the follow-up conversation.

The first alarm press during the initial encounter plays his plea. Read that interruption before continuing. It is a moment to reconsider a wanted-person report, not evidence that pressing the alarm is part of helping him. If your goal is the research outcome, let him leave without completing the report.

Choose between the bounty and the research route

Provide requested supplies laterSupport his research without an immediate cash paymentShorten the delay before the final visit
Report him at a visitClaim the 400-Credit wanted rewardEnd his storyline

The bounty and the formula are different rewards for different decisions. Do not plan a single encounter around receiving both by following the same branch. A wanted reward is attractive when cash is tight, but the relevant cost is the loss of the research sequence rather than the nominal value of a few supplies.

Likewise, do not count the formula's listed value as guaranteed liquid money at the moment you choose to help. The reward is an item and recipe opportunity at the end of the route. The shop still needs to cover its ordinary expenses while you wait for his return.

Prepare the correct chemical supplies

If you do not report him, Li Bei Wen returns three days later to request Chemical Supplies (Common) and Chemical Supplies (Restricted). These are the named stock items to prepare. A bottle of an arbitrary chemical, a finished medicine, or a piece of chemistry machinery should not be treated as a substitute merely because it belongs to the same trade.

Read the inventory names before setting anything aside. The distinction between Common and Restricted matters because they affect the research delay differently. You can support the route with the supplies you have; you do not need to pretend the two types contribute identical progress.

A practical preparation order is:

  1. Decide that you want the formula route before the first meeting ends.
  2. Set aside clearly identified Common or Restricted chemical supplies.
  3. Keep them accessible for the supply-request visit.
  4. Check the trade or handover carefully, because supporting the research does not provide an immediate cash payment.
  5. After the handover, leave room in your plans for a later reward visit rather than expecting the formula immediately.

That sequence avoids a common planning mistake: spending the same supplies on your own production and assuming the researcher can be paid with whatever remains. The requested materials have a specific role in his story. Reserve only the amount you intend to contribute so you can still distinguish quest stock from production stock.

Understand how the return delay changes

The final visit has a base delay of 17 days. Each Common supply contributed reduces that delay by four days; each Restricted supply reduces it by seven. The minimum supported delay is two days. Once you have reached that floor, further reductions cannot make the final visit immediate.

Research contributionReduction to the base delay
Each Chemical Supplies (Common)Four days
Each Chemical Supplies (Restricted)Seven days
Minimum delay after reductionsTwo days

These values describe the wait for this storyline, not the processing time of your chemistry equipment. Running a machine overnight cannot replace a supply donation, and upgrading a production machine does not change the stated research timetable.

You can use the reductions to decide how much stock to reserve. A Restricted supply has a larger effect on the wait than a Common supply, but that alone does not establish which donation is best for your shop. Your own use for those items and the cash needed to obtain them still matter. The supported benefit is a shorter research wait; a guaranteed profit calculation would require your actual purchase and sale conditions.

If you give him nothing, he tries again seven days later. That distinction is useful when you meet him unprepared. An empty-handed supply visit is not the same decision as reporting him. Keep the branch open and prepare for the retry instead of assuming you have permanently lost the formula because the required supplies were not ready that day.

Chemical Supplies (Common)

Common and Restricted supplies reduce the research wait differently.

Keep the visit sequence separate from ordinary chemistry

Li Bei Wen's progression is a visitor storyline. Your own production setup is a separate system. You can own chemistry equipment without possessing his formula, and you can support the researcher without completing a manufacturing batch during the encounter.

This matters when troubleshooting a seemingly stalled quest. First ask whether you allowed the researcher to leave, whether you reached his supply visit, and whether you contributed the requested items. Those questions identify story progress. Questions about mixture purity, solvent amounts or packaging identify production progress and should be handled after you have the relevant recipe.

Do not spend a long night rearranging a chemistry machine to fix a missing visitor step. The machine cannot make an uncompleted conversation happen. Conversely, waiting for the researcher will not automatically clear an unrelated production error in your shop.

A simple inventory distinction helps: keep sample injectors, chemical supplies and recipe notes mentally separate. Samples are finished goods, supplies advance the research request, and the final formula provides the recipe knowledge. All three belong to the same story, but they are not interchangeable quest tokens.

Collect the Nomore reward at the final visit

At the end of the supported route, Li Bei Wen gives you his Nomore Formula and two Nomore Injectors with 99 to 100 purity. The formula has a listed value of 400 Credits. Those are the named final rewards to look for rather than another delivery of research materials.

Check the reward items before reorganizing your counter. A formula note is easy to overlook when your attention is on the injectors, especially if you already have medicine samples among other stock. Keep the recipe item identifiable until you have dealt with it through the game's normal item interaction.

Nomore Injector

The final research visit includes two high-purity injectors.

The final injectors are not a promise that any mixture you make afterward will automatically have the same purity. Their purity describes those reward items. Your own production still needs to follow the recipe and equipment requirements associated with manufacturing. Do not infer a permanent quality bonus from receiving high-purity medicine at the end of a story.

Similarly, completing the storyline does not turn all future chemical supplies into a repeatable donation income. The documented sequence is a research request followed by a final reward. Treat any additional encounter according to what its current dialogue actually offers.

Diagnose a missing follow-up without closing the route

If Li Bei Wen has not returned, identify the last completed event. After the first unreported meeting, the next expected step is the supply request three days later. After a supply contribution, the relevant delay depends on the materials given. After giving nothing, the useful reference is the seven-day retry.

Do not mix those three waits. Counting from the first meeting while applying the final-research delay produces an expectation that does not match the sequence. Make a brief note of the supply visit and contribution in whatever run notes you already use; this is more reliable than remembering that you saw him sometime last week.

If the alarm was used and the report completed, more waiting does not restore the research route. That is the consequence to check before buying supplies specifically for him. A closed storyline and an unfinished wait can look similar when the only symptom is that the customer has not reappeared.

When he does return, read the purpose of the encounter before offering unrelated goods. The successful path is specific: preserve the researcher, provide the named supplies, allow the appropriate delay, and receive the formula at the final visit. Keeping those stages distinct lets you make the bounty decision deliberately and prevents ordinary inventory management from obscuring the reward you are pursuing.
